Challengers steal the show on K for Kishore

Taking a cue from the night before, that is Friday; the K for Kishore juggernaut continues its run to find fresh Challengers to fight it out for the top spot on the show. On Friday seven new Challengers (selected from over 70,000 aspiring singers) had the opportunity to showcase their singing talent, while Saturday sees the remaining seven facing the acid test.

Yuvi from Himachal Pradesh, took on Apurva with Chahiye thoda pyar… After an auto rickshaw driver, there comes a professional architect, Bobby from Rajasthan to challenge industrialist Chintan Bakiwala. Amit promptly recounted a hilarious incident involving the eccentric Kishore Kumar and an architect! Bobby sang Pal pal dil ke paas… which had host Babul Supriyo asking the judges: "Yeh Bobby, Darling ban sakta hai???" Amidst the laughter and the fun was some mind-blowing talent too.

Anil Srivastav's singing simply took everybody's breath away. Kabhi bekasi ne maara… The judges were unanimous in their verdict: He had the power and the voice to match that of the inimitable Kishore Kumar! Who knows, he may well turn out to be the dark horse of the show! Yet another singing talent from Pakistan, Amanat Ali, nephew of Ustaad Ghulam Ali, makes his debut on the show. Hailing from a family of professional classical musicians, Amanat lived up to expectations. He decided to fight it out with none other than Nayan Kumar (Rathod). He picked up Nayan's challenge to sing Maujon ki doli… and what followed was simply fascinating with even Bappi Lahiri joining in!

Tata Indicom Challenger, Obeek Mukherjee, a medical representative by profession, sang Chingari koi bhadke… Radio Mirchi Challenger, Rinku Mallik from Amritsar may be visually handicapped but his singing more than makes up for the loss of sight. He sang Manzilein apni jagah hain… straight from the heart. The last Challenger and Indian Idol finalist Amit Paul was unable to perform due to ill health, which lead to a heated debate between the contestants and the judges as to why he should not be dropped from the show. Better sense prevailed when Nayan spoke on behalf of all his Maharathis to plead Amit's case. Amit remains on the show much to the delight of all his fans.

Amit will be on the show next week. But seven of the contestants were not so lucky. It is Saturday night remember? The eliminations saw the end of the road for seven of the Challengers. Find out who stays and who bids adieu to K for Kishore.

Do not miss this very special episode on Saturday, February 16 at 9.00 pm only on Sony Entertainment Television.
