Har Ghar Kuch Kehta Hai Going Off Air Soon

The recent success of its various shows have emboldened Zee to go on a revamp mode. Hence soon after pulling the plug on Ardhangani, the number one GEC channel is all set to put to end to Har Ghar Kuch Kehta Hai, as well. Although the channel has not given any official notice to the production house, our inhouse spook says that the show will wrap up on 11th April. The channel had lost faith in the show hence this decision, the khabru added.

Lead actress Rati Pandey who plays the good bahu Prathna confirmed the news. “It’s quite sad, for we were doing relatively well. TRPs were also okay”, she noted sadly. But when probed further, this cute actress confided that the change in time slot was the main reason for the show’s popularity dipping. Har Ghar debuted at the 11 pm slot quite well. “Our TRP clocked 1.9 in the first month itself. But then Ardhangani, was introduced at the late night slot and we were pushed back to the 7 pm slot. The evening slot is not conducive for family dramas as most housewives are cooking at that time. Thus we ended up loosing a large section of our audience, which mostly does prove fatal”, clarifies Rati.

This Shreya Creation show had received some jolts in the past as well. Amrita Prakash, one of the 3 lead girls of the show had quit in November, as her role of Sanskriti did not bud as she expected it to. This was followed by the decision of the creatives to bump off the very popular character of Alok Nath who played Balraj Kapoor, in the serial. The veteran actor says, “The channel tried to create a high point by ending my popular character suddenly, but it back fired and the TRP dropped even further”.

Show Creative Head, Aman Khanna while accepting that the TRP were low felt that channel should have been more patient. “There are many new players in the already fragmented GEC space”, says Aman. What about the argument that the recent tracks were not working? “The channel alone decides which track runs and which does not. Remember. we began with a large number of characters, but soon whittled down to few. Had the channel wanted some twists, they could have been introduced”, he pointed out.

Most of the actors have already started to look beyond. Rati says that she wants to anchor a show. “It need not be a reality show. I am tired of doing saas babu. It's high time that Zee looked beyond marriage issues for story subject!” opines Rati. Sachin Shroff who plays Gyan Kapoor in the serial has something else up his sleeve. “Its too early to talk about that”, he remarked.
