TIMES NOW brings the Battle in Beijing to your living rooms!!

Ten thousand, five hundred athletes. Three hundred and two events in twenty eight sports, twenty one thousand eight hundred and eighty one torchbearers; All moving towards the same dream of making their country proud at the world’s largest sporting event: the Olympics. This year, TIMES NOW has introduced several initiatives to capture the spirit of the 29th Olympiad.

One of the key initiatives taken by TIMES NOW is to launch a focused show hosted by Charu Sharma on the 2008 Olympics – ‘GoldFest’. Expressing his enthusiasm, Charu Sharma said, “The Olympics is the mecca of all sport, and as a sports buff I couldn’t have asked for anything more. TIMES NOW’s initiative for comprehensive coverage of the Olympics ensures that Beijing Games receive the attention and prominence they deserve. Along with that, the analysis by our experts help in giving an all round perspective.”

The show reflects the nail biting excitement that surrounds the sporting event with reports from the venue,analysis by guests like former athletics star Ashwani Nachappa and world renowned shooter Morad Ali Khan, interviews with the Indian contingents, Olympics trivia, moments of the day and lots more. The show also offers the viewers a chance to exhibit their enthusiasm by participating in various quizzes and contest related to the current and past Olympiad Games. ‘Goldfest’ kicks off on August 7 and will be aired every night at 10:30 pm till the end of the Olympics, August 24.

Speaking on the unique initiative to provide comprehensive coverage of the Olympics, Arnab Goswami, Editor-in-Chief, TIMES NOW said, “As a channel, we have always given precedence to an event that impacts our audiences, irrespective of whether it is being held in India or elsewhere. TIMES NOW will also host an Olympics special in its comprehensive sports show ‘The Game’ with Boria Majumdar and incorporate regular updates on the Olympics as a part of their daily news bulletins to keep the viewers constantly updated about the latest happenings. Commenting on his involvement with TIMES NOW, Boria Majumdar said, “Olympics is the biggest spectacle in the world and I am really excited that it is taking place in Asia after such a long time. I truly appreciate TIMES NOW’s initiative for giving attention to a significant global event in a country that has focused entirely on cricket.”

TIMES NOW announces the launch of 'No Full Stops'

Multi-talended Niharika Negi wins the 1st [v] Campus Star

The verdict is out- India has found its first ‘Campus Star’ in Niharika Negi. St. Xavier’s College, Mumbai as she was declared a clear winner garnering over 75 million votes! Niharika overcame stiff competition from other contestants, to walk away with the coolest Campus Star title, Rs. 5 lakh and the love and adoration of the entire nation! Adding to her excitement, Channel [v] got youth icon Emraan Hashmi and the exuberant ‘beauty on duty’ Lola Kutty present the title to her.

Niharika, a ‘Chuppa Rustam’ as she is dearly called by Lola Kutty, gave some neck to neck competition to Deepak from IIM, Kolkata and Aparshakti from Rayat College, Punjab and walked away with the title for her college. Though Deepak and Aparshakti gave tough fight to Niharika, she raised the popularity charts of her college by fighting it out to be the India’s 1st coolest Campus Star.

An overwhelmed Niharika said, “I always knew Mumbai rocked!. I just don’t know how to express myself! When I participated in [v] Campus Star I was pretty confident of making it to top 3 but winning is altogether a wonderful feeling. My entire journey was an amazing experience. I am thrilled that I made my college proud. A big thank you to Channel [v]”

An ambitious Niharika, the judge’s favorite, amazed the audiences and the judges with her fantastic and consistent performance week after week. Being in the final 3, she was undoubtedly very popular with the viewers throughout the competition!

Well, this Mumbai girl proved that she has loads of attitude and confidence to carry the title of India’s coolest ‘Campus Star’ on her petite shoulders.

Channel [v] returns with Get Gorgeous 5

Channel [v]’s highly acclaimed series, Get Gorgeous returns with its fifth season, beginning May 16, 2008 every Friday at 7.30 pm. This time it’s not just about the transformation story of the girl-next-door; but includes higher levels of competition and drama that leads the way to find India’s next supermodel!

Channel [v]’s in-house fashionista VJ Pia is back as the host along with the panel of experts from the industry including stalwrats such as Designer duo Rahul Khanna and Rohit Gandhi, Ace photographer Nisha Kutty and Fitness expert Yasmin Karachiwala. And if that’s not all, week 2 will reveal established supermodels who will be mentors to the 10 finalists.
