'Participants get to interact freely with me' - Asha Parekh

Actress of yester years, Asha Parekh has made her debut on television with 9X’ Tyohaar Dhamaka where she chairs the judges’ seat.

Here is the actress talking about her experience being in the show, her favorite contestants, her take on reality shows and much more…

Why did you opt for such a long break?
I was with my family, as they needed me more than anyone. I have always believed that everyone has a time dedicated to people around. I spent half of my life entertaining people and all my fans, and now again I am back.

Your take on 9X’ Tyohaar Dhamaka?
Tyohaar Dhamaaka is a never-seen before concept on 9X. It basically aims in showcasing the Indian festivals through various Indian dance forms. It's going to be a great show, as far as audience viewing is concerned. The show represents Indian culture, which is not being seen now-a-days in reality shows. Moreover being a dancer, I feel elated to be part of such a show.

What made you sign the show? How did all of it happen?
First of all it's a dance show and I, being a dancer respect every form of art. Tyohaar Dhamaaka is very unique, as it focuses on Indian art. SOL productions shared this concept with 9X, and then I was approached for judging the show. I liked the concept, hence agreed.

What is the format/pattern of the show?
There are contestants from 4 zones- East (Purab Ke Suraj), West (West Ke Best), North (Uttar Ke Puttar) and Central (Central Ke Sikander). They perform according to the given theme of the episode and I judge them based their performance, sync with the team, expression and co-ordination. Like any other show there are winners and there are those who have to leave.

What is your role as the only judge of the show? What kind of responsibility do you have to face?
Being the only judge on the show, it really becomes intricate at times. But on a lighter note, I also enjoy the fact that I am the only judge; because that gives me a fair chance to put forth my views about the performances. This also is an advantage to the participants as they get to interact freely with me. As I can see the kind of hard work the participants are putting in, it feels bad when I have to eliminate them. Actually, it's more on the audience to decide whether I'm a good judge or not (laughs).

Other than the show representing Indian art, what do you think are the other factors that will make the show popular among audience?
Tyohaar Dhamaaka has such good dancers that it is really an honor for me to guide and mentor them. All the television stars be it Naman Shaw, Shayantani Ghosh, Narayani Shastri, are very hardworking. There is immense co-ordination between the dancers, astounding choreography and amazing style. In fact, everything in the show is so well structured, that the audience will never find it monotonous.

As we all know that reality shows now-a-days have become an open platform for screening grievances and controversies. So is Tyohaar Dhamaaka also on the same lines?
I would not like to comment on what the other reality shows are depicting, but Tyohaar Dhamaaka is absolutely not heading towards those lines. It is a very feel good show, and the participants are very sociable with each other.

Are you partial towards the west zone because of your own ethnicity?
Not at all, that will never ever influence my judgment. I have always supported talent, be it from any zone.

Lastly, any future plans on coming back in movies?
I did get some roles to act as mother; some concepts were good some were not, but as of now no plans to make a comeback in movies.

It's time for Mentors to fight now.....

If last week saw the Eastern Zone mentor Shabana Azmi awarding the ‘dramebaaz’ Jodi from Central Zone Twinkle Bajpai and Puneet Israni with 1 point, this week will see the retaliating to it in Central Zone mentor, Zeenat Aman9X’ Kaun Jeetega Bollywood Ka Ticket!!

Well, are you wondering what Zeenat does this week? The answer is so simple, as she returned the same 1 point to the very consistent Jodi from Eastern Zone (Shabana’s team) Naman Shaw and Bindu, even after they delivered a top-notch performance… This resulted in a heated argument between Shabana Azmi and Zeenat Aman. Defending her judgment-call, Zeenat told Naman, “Since I had already given you marks last week before the entire controversy started on the sets and now that the others were penalized, it’s only fair to them that even you bear the consequences of your actions”. This irked Shabanaji totally, and she argued saying, “I have known Zeenat for a very long time and this comes as a complete shock to me that she could ever do something like this. The episode should have ended last week itself rather than extending it on this week”.

Naman Shaw, who remained a silent spectator to this, is a very unhappy man today, as he told Telly Buzz, “It was very upsetting to get just 1 mark in spite of giving the best performance. All the judges appreciated our performance and in fact said that this was by far the best they have seen this season”. Reacting on Zeenat’s decision, the actor added “It was a fresh day, devoid of fights and controversies; but it seemed as though Zeenat Aman was very much impressed with Puneet and felt bad with his ouster, so wanted to play the ‘Tit for Tat’ game by giving me 1 mark”.

However, another contestant on terms of anonymity expressed to us that, “I don’t think it was a revenge taken by Zeenatji, but she did punish Naman for whatever he did last week”.

Well, in the midst of all this, the jodis to find themselves in Danger Zone this week were the two Jodis from Central Cheetahs, Chetan Hansraj-Sanyojita and Krutika Singhal – Mayank. According to our well-placed source, “It was Krutika and Mayank who went out this week”.

Well, with Mayank, Twinkle and Puneet gone, will this show finally be devoid of controversies now - is the question the viewers will have!!

Jasveer and Raja win Ek Se Badhkar Ek...

Tata Indicom Ek Se Badhkar Ek… Jalwe Sitaron Ke will witness the Grand Finale this weekend wherein the the two finalist couples – Raja Hasan and Jassi Kaur along with Kushal Punjabi and Sanchita Bhattacharya set the stage on fire.

The show stealer was the popular Pakistani band Fuzon, who gave thrilling performances on songs like ‘Suna Suna’ and ‘Khamaj’.

The Best Dancer Award went to Abhishek Awasthi while Aishwarya Nigam walked away with the Best Singer award. A surprise performance was by the elusive ace choreographer Ahmad Khan who won the hearts of the audience by his flawless performance on hits like “Aya Pappi, Krazy 4 and his debut, the spirit of Rangeela with Jassi and Kushal.

Shayantani was not far behind when she received thunderous applause for her performance on ‘Jiya Jale”. Aneek’s medley treat was far ahead of his usual performance. Pakistani Comedians Ali Hasan and Irfan Malik had people rolling in the aisles amidst fits of laughter. Abhijeet da’s soul searching performance with the visually challenged band Udaan was something new and touching. The little kids of Zee TV’s new yet-to-be-launched show Chota Packet, Bada Dhamaka (the kids version of Ek se Badhkar ek) did a dhamaka on the stage when they performed on “it’s the time to disco”.

The icing on the cake was the presence of stunner and controversial cricketer, Shoaib Akhtar, who to everyone’s surprise not only sang a Kishore Kumar number, but also put up a masaledar performance on hits like ‘Don’ and ‘mohabbat hai mirchi’. And to tango with him was none other than the Sexy Esha Deol. Looking at both, it was pretty evident that Bollywood calling is not far behind for Shoaib.

But as it goes, every show can have only one winner and it was ultimately Jasveer Kaur and Raja Hassan who beat Kushal Punjabi and Sanchita in the final race to glory.

We tried our best to get in touch with the winning pair, but they were unavailable for comments…

Confrontation Galore in Bollywood Ka Ticket..

The most controversial reality show, Lux Kaun Jeetega Bollywood Ka Ticket on 9X will witness a heated argument this week between the East Zone mentor, Shabana Azmi and contestant of Western Zone, Jai Bhanushali.

Jai had told that he was extremely disappointed about his score last week. He had also confided to voice this out in the very next episode and this is exactly what Jai did! “I showed various clippings of mistakes made by contestants in spite of which the judges gave them great scores. The judges grew angry at me and said that they did not expect me to talk like this. But the fact was that they just did not have anything to say as my AV’s did all the talking. I hope that they award proper and consistent marking to the contestants from now on. I raised this point on behalf of all contestants, but Naman and Vikas did not agree with whatever I did”, explains Jai.

This week saw amazing performances coming from North zone’s Sahil and Mihika Varma, Central zone’s Chetan Hansraj and Sanyogita and Western zone Jay Bhanushali and Rituka.

But the unfortunate moment came when Naman Shaw and Bindu from the Eastern Tigers along with Mihika Verma and Sahil from Central Cheetahs found themselves in the danger zone. Our well-placed source from the sets tells us, “In spite of coming up with their best performance till date, Mihika and Sahil were shown the door this week”.

Wonder what’s lined up next for the contestants as the ‘Ultimate Ticket to Bollywood’ is for grabs!!

Desi Dhurandhars make all Indians proud!

After the 18 week roller coaster ride of exhilarating rises, perplexing dips and unexpected twists, 9X’s mega song–n-dance extravaganza Gini & Jony Chak De Bachche reached its crescendo! The concluding episode on August 2nd was an action packed, adrenaline pumping one with deserving talent maestros Deepak and Nishtha of the Desi Dhurandhars as the winners. Adding to the excitement of the evening, audiences saw Mahendra Singh Dhoni and Yuvraj Singh stepping up to demonstrate their performing skills, but this time on Gini & Jony Chak De Bachche stage rather than the cricket field! It was Dhoni’s team who finally walked away with the title; he was strongly supporting Deepak and Nishtha all through the episode. Both Deepak and Nishtha were gifted Rs 5 lakh each and a trip to Disneyland presented to them by Yuvraj!

On being crowned as one of the most talented kids in the country, Deepak and Nishtha exclaimed “It has been an amazing experience for us right from the first auditions to tonight’s amazing show and victory. It was great to perform in the presence of Dhoni and Yuvraj sir! We were nervous in the beginning of the episode but as we performances our confidence rose! We are very grateful to the entire 9X’s Gini & Jony Chak De Bachche team especially the choregraphers and production team and we will miss them all. They are like family for us now and we could have never got to where we are today, if it hadn’t been for their continual encouragement and faith. We thank the team, the judges and the audiences who supported us. But we owe this win to Manoj Tiwari. We will never forget this experience for as long as we live”!

On the event of the finals, Indrani Mukerjea, Founder and CEO, INX Media Pvt Ltd. shared her thoughts on the show’s concept and achievement “The main reason that Gini & Jony Chak De Bachche was such a huge success was because of the sheer enthusiasm and fresh untapped talent that all the children involved have. Bringing the people of urban and rural India together created an apt platform to not only, get out the best in all the participants but also attract support for them, from all pockets of the country. It was a sheer pleasure to organise and be a part of such an initiative and it is due to this genuine satisfaction that we will shortly be announcing the second exciting part of the series – “Chak De Sheher Di Kudiyan Te Galli De Gunde”

Special guests at the event, ace cricketers Yuvraj and Dhoni were also full of praises for the Gini & Jony Chak De Bachche. “The talent here tonight is unbelievable and the excitement on stage was infectious!” said Yuvraj. On being asked about his hidden dancing talent which we saw at the show, he said “I enjoy dancing but I’m not half as talented a dancer as these kids! It’s great to see them receive such encouragement so early in their lives. I hope they develop the God given gifts they have received in the form of their talent and pursue careers in the fields of their choice. I wish them all the best”.

Dhoni also commenting on Gini & Jony Chak De Bachche said “It is fantastic to see children from smaller towns getting such a good platform to showcase their talents. I’m over happy to see Deepak and Nishtha live up to the high expectations of all the people supporting them, giving them hope to fulfill their own dreams”.

The judging duo Salim Sulaiman said “It feels good to be a part of such a show and we appreciate the appearances that both Yuvraj and Dhoni made tonight.” They added “The competition between the jodis was very tough tonight and though it was a pleasure judging the episode, it was not an easy job! We tried to guide the kids well and we would like them to concentrate on their studies for now. Their talent is astounding and can surely take them to the heights that they aspire for and wish them well”. Raveena Tandon, also a judge for Gini & Jony Chak De Bachche – “It was my role in the competition to judge the screen presence of each child and each one was a winner. There is a lot of uptapped talent in the far flung areas of our country and shows such as Gini & Jony Chak De Bachche are as asset for our country’s future”.

Vande Mataram!

“At the stroke of the midnight hour, when the world sleeps, India will awake to life and freedom. A moment comes, which comes but rarely in history, when we step out from the old to the new…India discovers herself again”.
- Jawaharlal Nehru

These are the words of our first Prime Minister Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru on Indian Independence Day, 1947. Now after 61 years we are celebrating the joy of our Freedom, with the same zest and enthusiasm!

But what exactly does Independence mean to us?? After 61 years of free-life, where do we stand?? The onus and responsibility lies on us to protect the motherland for which many have laid their lives…Let’s thank all those who have given their blood and soul for the motherland and Salute all the Martyrs and Leaders who had the dream to live in Independent India!

15th August signifies hope of an India where unity and peace will continue to prevail .On this, Television Stars shared their views...

Alok Nath:

The one thing that makes you proud to be an Indian: I feel that people like Abhinav Bindra make me proud to be an Indian.

The biggest threat to India and its unity, according to you: The pathetic politicians are a threat to India and its unity.

Your favorite leader in today’s era: Well what leaders? Who are they? I don’t see any leaders. I feel true leaders are people like Narayan Murthy, Ambani brothers and many others who have taken the nation a step ahead.

Message on Independence Day: I feel that Independence is sacred. In jungles animals have all the independence but it is very unfortunate that people are bound with laws and restrictions. In these restrictions one has to find independence. Let’s make this world a better place to be in.

****

Sudha Shivpuri:

The one thing that makes you proud to be an Indian: I feel that from the time we got independence till now, every field has progressed a lot. The conditions of women have seen a drastic change and I am happy about this.

The biggest threat to India and its unity, according to you: The endless personal fights that happen on issues regarding caste and creed is very bad. Everyone has a position to hold in life and people who are in a higher position in society should take their job more seriously.

Your favorite leader in today’s era: I don’t think I can name one, sabi hi mere favorite hai i.e. all are my favorite. I like Sonia Gandhi . I really like her because she is one female who has got Congress to the forefront.

Message on Independence Day: I feel that we need to understand and value the sacrifice of our leaders for the nation. We should always be united and never get into personal fights.

****
Rahul Vaidya:

The one thing that makes you proud to be an Indian: I feel the love that people have towards each other and the sprit with which all the festivals are celebrated in this country is incredible.

The biggest threat to India and its unity, according to you: The ones who always try to divide people on the basis of caste and creed..

Your favorite leader in today’s era: My favorite leader is Rahul Gandhi without any doubt.

Message on Independence Day: I feel that each individual should do something that makes India proud. Like in sports Abhinav Bindra has made India proud; in the same way I feel that in each field some one should do something so that India is proud of that individual.

****

Aamir Ali:

The one thing that makes you proud to be an Indian: I think that there are lots of things that make me feel proud and can’t state one. Things like the way we adapt to various culture and the way we are growing as a nation makes me feel proud. I feel that every country has certain bad points and India is no exception. But leaving that aside, I would say that I am a hard core Indian!!

The biggest threat to India and its unity, according to you: I think it is dirty politics that screw up a lot of things. Just to get a vote bank, some people divide people on the basis of cast or creed which is very dangerous..

Your favorite leader in today’s era: I like Umar Abdullah for his honesty and Laloo Prasad Yadav for his smartness. Before I used to find Laloo ji funny and then I found him amazing and in couple of years I realized that he is a smart person who can turn losses into profits.

Message on Independence Day: Never think of dividing this country on the basis of caste, creed and culture. Just enjoy your freedom and live a happy life.

****

Jayati Bhatia:

The one thing that makes you proud to be an Indian: I think I am born in this country and I am brought up the way I was. I feel that today my country is on a threshold where I see some of the younger generation having cigarettes and on the other hand, I also see some going to places of worship. I am seeing an amalgamation of both modern and traditional.

The biggest threat to India and its unity, according to you: Population and lack of education are the biggest threats to India's unity.

Your favorite leader in today’s era: I am totally and absolutely excited about Rahul Gandhi and Sachin Pilot.

Message on Independence Day: I think Independence for me is something where I want to express my views on Getting rid of pretence and show-off is what people should do! I feel most of us speak only in our houses, now its the time to go out and talk about your views.

****

Dimple Jhangiani:

The one thing that makes you proud to be an Indian: I feel that India is very rich in culture. People live with unity and are always together.

The biggest threat to India and its unity, according to you: Westernization which might change Indian culture is the biggest threat..

Your favorite leader in today’s era: I can’t name any as I don't like any one. Everything is now full of corruption.

Message on Independence Day: Happy Independence Day!! Let’s stop corruption and be loyal to our nation!!

Will Twinkle be brought back on public demand??

If one feels the chance to grab a ‘Ticket’ to Bollywood is easy, then mark your words, as the road to the coveted trophy to 9X’ Kaun Jeetega Bollywood ka Ticket and a role in the movie ‘Generation X’ is just not a cake-walk for our talented participants!!

If last week saw the big drama of Twinkle Bajpai walking out of the show, this weekend will see a shocker of an elimination!!

Giving us the news is our well-placed source from the sets, “The person to get out this week is the very talented Karan Patel of Western Sharks”. Elaborating on the way Karan got eliminated, our source states, “Karan and Mihika of Northern Eagles were in the danger zone and when it came to the remaining contestants voting out a jodi, they pre-planned that they will vote in such a way that both Mihika and Karan get 3 votes each. But the whole plan went haywire when Jai had to cast the final vote. With Mihika having bagged 3 votes already, Jai had to now equal the scores by giving Karan his 3rd vote, but then Amrita Singh warned Jai and Ritika that they had to think wisely and give their precious vote to the most deserving person. This is when Jai voted for Mihika, the better performer of the two on the given day instead of Karan, thus eliminating Karan from the contest”.

If this is not enough, there is another shocker that awaits the viewers this week in Bollywood Ka Ticket. Revealing this, our source says, “Twinkle will be brought back to the competition next week due to public demand. There will be an AV shown this Sunday wherein the public makes a hue and cry over Twinkle going out of the show and demand her comeback”.

Well, this had to happen as there is no ‘Drama’ without the ‘Drama Queen’ and according to our source, the whole bunch of people who were shown in the AV are actually junior artistes trying to grab attention in the few minutes of glory given to them on a platter!!

There is a long way to go before the lucky one grabs the ‘Ultimate Ticket’ here!! But before that, we will see the comeback of the ‘infamous’ Twinkle Bajpai to the show next week!! But will the girl have the last laugh when she finds Karan Patel missing the limelight of snubbing her on camera yet again???

It's not one, but two celebrities going out this week!!

Abigael Jain, the youngest contestant of 9X’ Kaun Jeetega Bollywood Ka Ticket who represented the Western Sharks is the one to be eliminated this week!!

This elimination comes as a shock after Twinkle Bajpai and Puneet Israni of Central Cheetahs staged a walkout earlier in the episode! The celebrities who were in the bottom three were Reshmi Ghosh from Eastern Tigers, Twinkle and Abigael.

Giving us details is our source from the sets, “Abigael expressed her disappointment at being the second celebrity to get ousted in one episode. But then the show had to go on, Twinkle went out as per her wish and as per the format of the show, there had to be an elimination happening, and the axe fell on Abigael and her partner Bhushan”.

There was more drama this week apart from the Twinkle-Puneet one, as Panchi Bora’s partner Rahul who got eliminated last week came to the sets and had a verbal fight with Bhushan, Abigael’s partner. According to our source, “Bhushan and Rahul were the best of friends, but their friendship went for a toss when Rahul got eliminated last week. But all was fine later as they sorted out their differences”.

Twinkle Bajpai stages a walkout!!

Drama does not seem to end in Kaun Jeetega Bollywood ka Ticket as amidst all the chaos, news pours in that Twinkle Bajpai who has been nicknamed as ‘Nautanki’ by few other contestants there has staged a walkout from the show along with her partner Puneet Israni!!

Telly Buzz got a fuming Twinkle on phone who says, “I was about to leave the show in the 2nd episode when there was a big fight between Chetan and my partner Puneet, but I decided to stay back. Ever since the show started, I have been against the concept of contestants voting out a jodi and I am damn sure that if I would have been in the bottom three, I would have got eliminated as all present here dislike Puneet from the first episode”. Adding on, the actress says, “Eyebrows were raised by many, especially Mihika when we got 30 points in the first episode. Chetan being the eldest in this group should have handled the situation with Puneet in a better way; instead he went to top gear!”

Twinkle who was in the top three last week was shocked to know that she was in bottom three this time around, and this is when all hell broke loose, says our source. “When I saw myself in bottom three, I really got annoyed and decided to walk out of the show”, confirms Twinkle.

According to Twinkle, when she took this decision it was Mihika who voiced first that she is walking out as she is staring at defeat. “Mihika started the issue and later even Chetan and Karan followed suit and starting talking ill of me”, cribs Twinkle.

However, when we asked Mihika, she spoke out, “If Twinkle was unhappy with the voting pattern, she should have voiced it from the very first episode. She did not even think twice before eliminating a good contestant like Panchi. Now when she was in the bottom three, she got a fear that majority will vote against her”.

Karan Patel, who also voiced his thoughts about Twinkle in the episode, says to us, “Twinkle lacks sportsman spirit. She cannot handle all this, so she staged a walkout”.

Mihika goes on to say, “Twinkle has a bad mouth, and went on to say rubbish about each and everyone. She showed her class by opening her mouth and I stayed calm and maintained my dignity”. When we quizzed Twinkle further, she maintained, “I am from a good family and so is Puneet. We do not deserve to take all the nonsense that others speak here. So we decided to quit”.

The battle of words does not end here as Mihika quips, “She should have quit after getting 30, which would have been graceful. Instead, walking out after being in bottom three just shows what a person she is!! She does not have the guts to face the challenge”.

The finalists of the year’s biggest talent show Metro Rockers Varun-Loria and Desi Dhurandhars Deepak –Nishtha are now all geared up for the grand finale on August 2nd.

In the previous episode, we saw Nidhi and Rudraksh from Metro-Rockers leaving the GINI & JONY Chak De Bachche family. The competition is undoubtedly at the final stage and the little wonders of GINI & JONY Chak De Bachche will leave no stone unturned to emerge victorious. Male actors sweat it out for Ekta's 'Mahabharat'

The actors in Ekta Kapoor's epic soap 'Kahaani Hamaaray Mahaabhaarat Ki' say they had to hit the gym regularly and work out hard to suit their macho roles in the period drama.

Actor Ronit Roy, who plays Bhishma Pitamah in the new, technologically enhanced version of Hindu epic 'Mahabharat' claims no actor has been working harder than him to get into shape.

'I started with training for three hours a day and now I work out for about two hours every day,' Ronit told IANS over phone from Mumbai. 'I have worked extremely hard on my physique, in fact no body has worked harder than me.'

Chetan Hansraj, known for his well-toned, tall and broad body frame, plays the role of Bheem, considered the most powerful of the Pandavas. Even he vouches that Ronit worked really hard on his body.

Chetan also followed a strict training and diet regime.

'It took me almost four months of training and nutritional control to get into shape for the role.

'I have also been on a high protein, low carbohydrate diet. I had to stop my intake of cheese and rice and my diet mainly constituted of chicken with other supplements.'

Although he isn't much of a workout person, Chetan, who played the negative role of Sasha in 'Kahani Ghar Ghar Ki', had to drag himself to the gym.

'It has been very difficult for me because basically I'm a very lazy person,' he confessed.

Compared to other members of the team, model-turned-actor Aryan Vaid, who essays the role of Duryodhan, says he didn't have to work too hard.

'I haven't put in any special efforts in terms of physique, neither did I change my diet. I think I was already in good shape and I guess that's the reason why the producers cast me,' he said.

Aryan stressed that working out has become a daily habit for him now.

'I generally work out for one-and-a-half hours a day and I have been working out for the past 16 years. I really haven't done anything for 'Mahabharat',' he said.

Actor Harshad Chopra, who is also a fitness freak like Aryan, plays Arjun in the mega serial.

'I have always been a fitness freak. I work out regularly so my workouts have been more or less the same,' he maintained. Harshad said bagging the role of Arjun just motivated him to continue his workouts.

'This is like a new motivation for me to keep fit. I knew that I would have to appear semi-nude on screen for the role so I had to look good,' he said.

'Kahaani Hamaare Mahaabhaarat Ki' is one of Ekta's most expensive and lavishly produced shows on television with spectacular sets and designer costumes. It has an array of popular TV stars including actresses Sakshi Tanwar and Anita Hanssanandani.
