Dill Mill Gayye takes to drama...

Star One's Dill Mill Gayye, produced by Cinevistaas has always maintained their story very simple, when it comes to their fun tracks or plotsDill Mill Gayye based on friendship and love. However, for the first time, they are attempting bit of drama with the track between Dr. Shashank (Mohnish Behl) and Dr. Armaan (Karan Singh Grover).

Says Amita Devadiga, Creative Head of the show "This is a very nice track between the father and his could-be son-in-law. The debate between them is just a starting point to a new twist. The next one and half to two weeks will focus on how the chemistry between these relationships gets changed. What's gonna happen next???, will be the question and you will have to wait and watch to know more".

Dill Mill Gayye had yet another reason to celebrate as they completed 300 episodes on the 12th of February. They had a small party bash organized for the crew and cast members which was a rocking affair. "This was indeed a milestone for us, as we have come a long way with this youth-based show", quips Amita.

On the track ahead, Amita states, "There have been rumors that if Armaan-Riddhima get together, there are chances of DMG going off air as there is nothing more left. But you will see something really interesting in the coming weeks that will take the story to a new high".

Well, as for now, watch out for the debate that kicks-off between Shashank and Armaan on the 17th of February, as this will pave way for a very interesting track....

Suresh Albela wins Laughter Challenge

Suresh Albela wins Laughter Challenge

The%20Great%20Indian%20Laughter%20ChallengeSuresh Albela from Kota, Rajasthan is the winner of ‘The Great Indian Laughter Challenge’ on Star One. For the judges, former cricketer Navjoth Singh Sidhu and Shatrughan Sinha, it was a tough decision because all the four finalists – Raas Bihari Gaur, Bharati Singh, Suresh Albela and Sikander-put up a great show.

Suresh Albela, a shy young lad from Kota, rendered his ‘comic ode’ to Mallika Sherawat and Emraan Hashmi and he had us in splits. Nervous, but confident, Albela impressed the jury and the viewers alike with his comic style.

He vividly recollects when Malaika Arora Khan was a guest judge on the show. Speaking in chaste Hindi, he said, “I am a huge Malaika fan. And when I saw her, for the first few seconds, I was tongue-tied.” But with a twinkle in his eyes, he said, “If I had to impress her, I knew I had to give it my best! And on that particular day, I did give it my best.”

According to sources, the grand finale was a war of wits. The participants had the judges in splits. The clincher was the voting system, which helped Suresh Albela walk away with the crown.

Dance Ki Jung - Sher-O-Shayri Ke Sang!!

The stage is a la Mughal-E-Azam durbar this time!, as the feather-capped Meethi Churis and Tez Talwars, are ready to combat each other!

Timely wisecracks, tongue-in-cheek comments, innumerable doses of pungent humor, witty retorts take the backseat as the theme claims that everything is expressed poetically. The result? Treat of shayari of every kind – emotional, sarcastic, humorous… Don’t forget to tune into Zara Nachke Dikha on 19th August, 9.30pm only on Star One!!

The ‘Lagi Bet’ round witnesses dances of contrasting genre, taking the competition a notch higher. Tez Talwar Gaurav Chopra dressed like a brawny Dravidian warrior performs a ‘tandav’ on the title track of ‘Omkara’. His remarkable performance receives lot of accolades from judges. Depicting an entirely different genre, Narayani Shastri boogies a perfect cabaret on ‘Piya tu ab to aaja’ reminiscing the yesteryear’s cabaret queen Helen. The judges were ecstatic by her act and costume.

The meanest round of the show, the ‘Khallas round’, is themed ‘DISCO’. Tez Talwar Manish re-kindles the disco mood with his smooth rendition on Super Dancer. He surely wins the applause from the judges and steals their hearts with his flawless steps. But Meethi Churi Karishma Tanna proves to be a surprise package for everybody!! Putting her tall frame to advantage, she slips on a retro style doing a Mithun Chakravorty to the tune of ‘I am a disco dancer’. Needless to say, her a la Mithunda act was an instant hit with the audience and judges alike!

Manish Goel's Electrifying Act...

The ‘Performance’ episode on Star One’s Zara Nachke Dikha on Monday will see the Tez Talwar Manish Goel shaking his legs to the energetic number ‘Humma Humma’!!

Creating a perfect ambience for this number, Manish performed this solo set in a garage with loads of pyros and fireworks in the rights sense!! The judges were stunned by this electrifying act where Manish adorned a cool ‘Dhoom 2 look’…

But the highlight of the performance was the manner in which Manish set the stage on fire and that too, in real!! As he was performing, one side of the stage caught fire due to the pyro works that were part of the act. Everyone on the sets was taken aback and the situation got chaotic, but normalcy prevailed quickly as the necessary precautionary steps were taken by the crew. However, the amazing part was that Manish was unfazed and managed the entire condition quite well and chose to continue with his performance..

And this is what we actually call ‘Set the stage on fire’ act!! Kudos to Manish!!

Chaitanya Choudhury injured...

One bad week for Chaitanya Choudhury sees him cooling his heels in the penalty bench in Star One’s Zara Nachke Dikha. But the actor seems to be more concerned about his injured back which has been giving him trouble for the past few weeks.

“I have injured my lower lumbar region. I already had back problems but it got worse when I fell on my ankle in a chair act during the technical rehearsals. My doctor has advised me clearly to take rest”, quips the actor.

The ‘Tez Talwars’ ended up losing the battle to ‘Meethi Churis’ this week and with this, Chaitanya finds himself in the penalty bench. When asked about his face-off with Mouni Roy, the actor says, “Well, I don’t want to say anything on that as I feel that I gave my best shot. My injury is certainly not a reason for this”. So will we be seeing Chaitanya get to his dancing best in the battle of sexes? “I will take it bit easy in the coming week, but I am sure I will be back in action soon. To tell you frankly, I can’t wait to be fully fit and dance again”, concludes Chaitanya..

'Paani Puri' - New Sitcom on Star One...

Star One’s comedy maestros are here to stay! From The Great Indian Laughter Challenge, Sarabhai v/s Sarabhai to Instant Khichdi, Star One is back with an all new sitcom – Paani Puri.

Set against a backdrop where two families hailing from diverse cultures and backgrounds come to live under one roof, to cause mayhem and chaos! Adding to the excitement are the characters who, with their humor and comic sense get the audiences into splits. Vikas Puri played by Sumeet Raghavan and Divya Paani by Smita Bansal, the unusual and distinctive sitcom begins August 30th every Saturday @ 9.00pm only on Star One.

Commenting on the launch, Mr. Ravi Menon, EVP, Star One said, “Comedy as a genre has done extremely well and is now the backbone for most of the shows. Star One has pioneered comedy on television and has always presented audiences with the best quality entertainment. With this show as well we are promising to create a rage. The simplicity of the story and the characters will surely take the viewer’s through a joy ride.”

Paani and Puri are two separate entities. When the two words are spoken together as “Paanipuri”!!! It sends the juices gushing and causes floods of anticipation in our mouth. The mix of two cultures under one roof provides an interesting mix of:

Humor - where 2 families from diverse backgrounds live with each other
Romance- where 2 different individuals try maintaining peace within
families and within themselves

Vikas Puri, a middle class 28 years old can’t do without Divya Paani, 25, daughter of a retired bureaucrat. They are a young couple in love. Without any qualms, the two lovers push their luck and not only manage to tie the knot but bring their respective parents to deal with each other. A Punjabi, middle class Puri family, which believes that the human voice is a gift of god and must be used in variable octaves generously, is pitted against the sophisticated Paani family which feels that the human voice is the sound of the human mind and therefore one should utter any kind of sound only for a purpose. The two sets of parents make ample efforts to convince the newly married couple that Pani and Puri is an explosive blend.

What happens when two diverse families are forced to come together, under one roof, for the sake of their children’s love? A humorous show which showcases the clash of culture and class leaving you in splits!!

Sukriti Khandpal now in Dr. Riddhima's garb

Star One’s very popular show Dill Mill Gayye has been in the news ever since talks of Shilpa Anand leaving the show have hit the headlines. As Shilpa decided to set her eyes on Bollywood, Telly Buzz had come out with the news that it will either be Mahi Vij or Sukriti Khandpal getting into the character of Riddhima.

Well, as speculations over the replacement and Shilpa’s future goes on, our khabroo informs us that it is Sukriti Khandpal who has eventually won the jackpot and that the girl, also seen in SAB’s Jersey No. 10, has already begun shooting for Dill Mill Gayye.

When contacted Sukriti, she remained tightlipped and says that she is having talks with the channel and has not yet got the green signal from them.

Shilpa Anand quits Dill Mill Gayye

Shilpa Anand, the pretty actress who has been the face of Dr. Riddhima in Star One’s Dill Mill Gaye is all set to quit the serial.

Telly Buzz caught up with Amita Devadiga, Creative Head, Dill Mill Gaye who confirmed the news, saying “Yes, it is true that Shilpa has opted out of Dill Mill Gayye”. On the probable replacement, Amita states, “We are on a lookout for Shilpa’s replacement. You will get to know of it in few days’ time”.

Much to the astonishment of loyal Dill Mill Gayye viewers, Shilpa Anand avers, “Riddhima was a very sweet character and will remain close to me forever. But things need to move on and I am surely quitting Dill Mill Gaye. My last date of shoot was on 20th May”. For the uninitiated, the buzz of Shilpa’s exit from the show was doing rounds for a while, but the creative unit had decided to keep the news low profile till all was confirmed.

Shilpa’s contract was to end in June, but the actress is said to have requested the channel and the production house to relieve her few days in advance. Shilpa who has acted in few Telugu films down South now aspires to go the Bollywood way. “I have got many offers in big screen, but I will need at least one month for myself before I take up my next offer”, clarifies Shilpa.

On an ending note, Shilpa thanks her fans for having loved her as Riddhima. “I wish the serial all the very best. They have a very smart creative unit and I am sure they will take the track in a convincing manner", says Shilpa.

With Shilpa gone, there was a buzz that Karan Singh Grover's beau Shraddha Nigam would fit into the shoes of Riddhima. When Telly Buzz spoke to Shraddha, she says, "I was one of the options for the role, but I guess I will not be doing it". According to a reliable source, "Mahi Vij who was earlier seen in DJ Akhil's music video 'Tu Hai Wahi' has been considered for the role along with Sukriti Khandpal who is seen in SAB's Jersey No. 10.

Nikhil Arya steps in Iqbal Khan's shoes

Nikhil Arya, famous for his role as Rudra in Kesar, will be seen in a new avatar as he dons the uniform of Officer Abhimanyu Adhikari in Star One's Choona Hai Aasmaan.

When contacted, Sandip Sikcand, Creative Head of Miditech, says, "Nikhil Arya, who was previously seen in Kesar and now in Kasturi will be replacing Iqbal Khan in Choona Hai Aasmaan".

Nikkhil Arya, affirms the news saying, “It feels great to be playing Abhimanyu Adhikari in Choona Hai Aasmaan. Today is my first day of shoot. I feel the role is very challenging mainly because the show has a very unique storyline and is hatke from the usual saas bahu sagas that are happening on television.” He further adds, “I have played a lover in Rabba Ishq Na Hove, a negative character in Kesar and Kasturi, so this is something different. I guess I complete a full circle donning the uniform of an air force officer.”

Iqbal Khan, who was seen essaying the role till now, carved a niche in the hearts of the audience as Abhimanyu, so will the audience accept Nikhil in his shoes? To which Nikhil instantly replies, “As I said before, I have accepted the role as a challenge. Iqbal and I, both, differ in personalities, style and persona. When the serial started out, it had the glamor quotient of the air force. However, the plot has thickened now and the Hawks are on a special mission. The character, in itself, requires more of acting and not just style. When the serial began, looking good in a uniform was sufficient, but now the acting skills of the actor need to take an upper hand. And that is exactly what I plan to concentrate on as I step into Iqbal’s shoes.”

On an ending note Nikhil says, “I know this is a huge challenge for me but I truly need all your blessings and support to essay the role perfectly and take the character and show head.”

Iqbal Khan says 'Bye-Bye' to Chhoona Hai Aasmaan…

The heart-throb of millions, Iqbal Khan, who gained dizzying heights of success as rock star Angad of Kaisa Yeh Pyarr Hai was appreciated as the haughty yet very patriotic air force officer Abhimanyu Adhikari in Star One's popular soap, Choona Hai Aasmaan. But now the actor has decided to quit the show for unknown reasons.

When asked whether Iqbal Khan might get back later, Sandip Sikcand, the Creative Head of Miditech(Production House of Choona Hai…) says, “Iqbal Khan is out of Chhoona Hai.. now, and he is gone for good”. When asked about the reason for his exit, Sandip averred, “His contract with us ended and he did not want to renew it for some reason”.

Talking about the replacement for Iqbal, Sandip states, “It is very tough to look for a personality to replace Abhimanyu, the character that Iqbal was playing. As of now, we are considering few established actors as well as newcomers. The coming Thursday’s episode will see the last of Iqbal Khan in the serial. The story line which is now focused on Sameera’s kidnap will go on for few days. We also have a good bank of episodes in hand. We are hopeful of getting our replacement very soon and the actor’s entry might happen sometime in the last week of May. Let’s hope for the best”.
