Urmila Mantoadkar Introduces Families At Waar Paarivar

Reality shows are here to stay. The show, Waar Parrivar-Sangeet Ka Naya Gharana is the first of its kind on Indian television and is a singing contest like no other. For the first time, three members of a family come together to form a formidable team of singers who will challenge another equally talented family of singers. Twelve delightfully talented families make their debut on Sony Entertainment Television. Meet the first six families on Monday April 28, 2008 at 8.00 p.m.

In the introductory episode viewers will meet teenaged Akshay Bhagwat and his parents Madhav and Sucheta Bhagwat. Akshay incidentally has already made his debut as a playback singer with a song from Fanaa. Mehboob Ali, Yasu Ali and Misbah Ali are three brothers who hail from a family of talented singers from Kanpur. Their unique singing style is their trump card. Ghani Mohammad along with brother Ali Mohammad and nephew Amjad Ali have come from a well-known gharana in Jaipur.

Ex-Indian Idol contestant from Ujjain, Harish Moyal returns with his brother Mahesh (both professional singers) along with their mother Mrs. Moyal. Three cousin brothers Arvind Gujral, Haneet Taneja and Amit Sharma from Chandigarh are well known names in Punjabi households. Progeny of the famous duo Shankar- Shambhu, Ram Shankar, brother Pradeep and niece Ekta take a bow on the show.

Each one of the families comes with a power-packed musical lineage. Each member showcases his/her own talent as well as joins the senior member in a mind-blowing performance. Waar Parrivar… is no ordinary singing show – it is a show that promises to keep viewers glued to their seats for weeks to come from Monday to Wednesday. Viewers are about to embark on a musical ride of a lifetime.
